Persephone's Return

My thoughts were heavy after a hard winter with various lockdowns and pandemic restrictions. I sought solace by hiking the trails in my local park. While wandering through the scrub land, I was mesmerized by the first signs of spring returning to the small trees and shrubs, like Persphone returning from the underworld in ancient Greek mythology. The sight of the leaves emerging from the lifeless branches gave me hope that things will be renewed and that life continues. These images were taken over a four week period during the spring of 2021 in a small area of Komoka Provincial park, a near urban park just outside of London, Ontario, Canada.
